After things were set up at my condo and my room at Athlete’s Village, the next big thing was to decide whether or not I was going to go to the opening ceremonies. Making that decision took a lot of time, and was probably one of the most drawn out decision I made during the Games.
The first time I actually thought about the opening ceremonies probably goes back at least a year. That’s when I really started to see myself as having a realistic shot at making the ...

While I’m looking back at my experiences at the Olympics, I’m going to keep it somewhat chronological – just to give it a little order. But if something comes to mind, I’m just going to go with it.
If I go back to the week before the Olympics started, I would have just been moving into the Athlete’s Village. I moved into my room on Friday the 5th (along with everyone else on the long track team who was going to stay at the village), where our ...

First of all, thanks for all of the support leading up to and during the Olympics! From the individual messages of encouragement to all of the guestbook signatures, they were all great to read both before and after my races. I couldn’t have done this without you!
Now that things have settled down a little, I’m going to go back and piece together everything that happened over the last few weeks. There was lots that went on that I didn’t get a chance to sha...

I hope this entry doesn't get too long, but here it goes anyway!
1.First up is the Canada vs. US hockey game on Sunday
This was probably one of the more sought after events among the athletes, aside from the men’s hockey final. As athletes, we’ve had access to a certain number of tickets that the COC set aside in designated athlete sections at the venues (other countries have access to tickets for their athletes as well). We put in our request...

I just wanted to quickly let everyone know that the 1500’s start tomorrow (Saturday) at 4:15pm. I’ll be up around 5:48pm skating in the last pair (19) on the outer with Shani Davis - what a pair! Not only am I in the last pair, but I’ll be racing the current 1500m world record holder and 2006 Olympic silver medallist.
To be honest, I was pretty excited to find out that I was in the last pair with Shani tomorrow. I think my eyes might have actually lit up ...

Having wrapped things up nicely with a great race in the 5k on Saturday, I’m really looking forward to the 1500m.
Tonight was actually the first time I watched the video of the 5k. Usually I’ll take a look at video from races sooner than I did, but with everything going on I haven’t had time to watch it. Having seen the video now, I did, in fact, do a lot of things well: it wasn't just the feeling I had during the race. A lot of those things I will be abl...
