Lucas had to skate his 5000m alone today. On the second day of the World Cup in Chelyabinsk, Enrico Fabris, who was paired with Lucas, withdraw from the competition, leaving Lucas by himself at the start. Lucas finished 22nd in 6:47.68. Jorrit Bergsma of the Netherlands finished first in 6:18.74.
“Unfortunately, the 1500 yesterday was a tough one and the 5k today was probably the hardest one I've skated in years. True mental strength will come with how I'm able to bounce back after these past two days. I've got the 1000m and TP to push my body a little more and see what happens.”
