On the first day of the second World Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan, Lucas raced to the fastest time in the 1500m in the B division. He stopped the clock at 1:47.83, which earned him a spot in the A division again next week. Wouter Olde Heuvel won the 1500m today in a time of 1:45.69.
"The thing I'm happiest about today is that I did what I needed to do to get back into the A group for the World Cup in Heerenveen next weekend. I'm not quite feeling 100% yet on the ice, so there's still room for improvement and that's what I'll be focusing on over this next week. As for the rest of the weekend, I'm taking things race by race to keep working back up to where I should be at this point in the season."
