Athlete's Village

Take two...

I`ve been in the Village for a couple of nights now and the more I stay there the more I`ve been liking it! Here`s a little bit of how things are set up for us.

To begin with, the Canadian Team`s rooms are in two of the buildings right on the water across from BC Place. I can`t speak for all of the rooms in the Village, but our rooms are in brand new two bedroom condos that will probably sell for a good chunk of money after the Games are over. They`ve got the essentials – a bed, side table, a few lights, a few chairs and a couch. Considering it`s a spacious two bedroom condo, they`re a little bare. That`s where our athlete`s lounge comes in.

The penthouse suite in our building, which will be sold for around 12 million dollars (give or take a few million haha), is Team Canada`s athlete lounge. No coaches and no support staff – just Canadian athletes. Up there we`ve got a few places to and out and relax, watch the Olympic coverage on the TVs, play some foosball or ping pong, surf the net, and snack when we`re hungry. From the time I've already spent up there, it's going to be an awesome place to hang out and visit with the rest of the team throughout the Olympics.

If the penthouse lounge is too much activity for my liking, I can head down to the main floor and spend some time in the yoga/pilates/relaxation room. The yoga/pilates portion speaks for itself, but in the separate relaxation room I can sit back on one of the reclining chairs or spread out on one of the air mattresses to catch some shut-eye by the fire place.

From the penthouse lounge to the main floor yoga/pilates/relaxation rooms, Marnie and the gang have definitely done things right!

Despite having been at the Village for a few nights now, I still haven’t really explored too much of it. Perhaps I’ll get around to that in the next few days. But for now, that’s all I’ve got for the night so check back soon for my next update!

Can't wait to see you next week. Larissa is doing jumping jacks, and the boys smile when they hear your name.
From all back in Canora!

Glad to hear you are settling in OK at the village and enjoying your Olympic experience. Great articles in the paper today. The students are so excited for everything to get underway. They are all tuning in on Saturday to watch your race and wanted me to wish you luck.

Wishing you a great races. Just sending you lots of love and maybe you'll even be able to hear Uncle Sam and Judy and I screaming through the television. Well maybe you won't hear Uncle Sam as he's not as loud as us.
