From the 5k to the 1500

Posted on February 16, 2010 at 12:08 AM

Having wrapped things up nicely with a great race in the 5k on Saturday, I’m really looking forward to the 1500m.

Tonight was actually the first time I watched the video of the 5k. Usually I’ll take a look at video from races sooner than I did, but with everything going on I haven’t had time to watch it. Having seen the video now, I did, in fact, do a lot of things well: it wasn't just the feeling I had during the race. A lot of those things I will be able to carry forward to the 15.

Since I’ve been doing a lot better in the 1500m this year, at times last week it was hard not to look past the 5k to my race this Saturday. I kept those thoughts in check really well, which was why I did as well as I did in the 5k; but, having finished the 5k now, I’m really looking forward to my race on Saturday. All my focus is now on the 1500, and having skated the way I did last Saturday I'll be carrying forward a lot of confidence.

Having said all that, things are going well and I’m feeling good on the ice right now – what else can I ask for?!

Hey Lucas, I have no idea if you'll remember me, I'm Lindsay's friend. I just had to say that it was amazing being out for lunch watching different events, then looking up and seeing you skating! I always loved listening to lindz talk about all of you guys skating, and seeing you now at the Olympics is so cool. All of us who have heard about your progress through lindsay are cheering you on back home in Sask! It's so awesome to be able to say I know that guy, as you skate so well! Best of luck as the games go on!
