In today’s 5000m at the Fall Classic, Lucas stopped the clock at 6:32.60, which was good for a second-place finish. After his races he commented on the past couple of days:
"I'm quite happy with all of my races this weekend. The 500m was a great start for the first one of the year because it helped me pinpoint the areas I have the most to improve on. The 1000m was perfect to start getting more comfortable at speed in the corners, and the 5k today actually surprised me a little with how well the laps kept coming throughout the race. By no means were any of my races perfect this weekend, but they were a great start to tune things up for the World Cup season. It was also reassuring to see how some of the technical changes I've made this year have translated into my first races of the year."
