The 5th and final World Cup this fall – Salt Lake City. It’s been a long stretch so far, but I’m still looking forward to racing this weekend. This fall has been all about learning, improving, and becoming more confident leading into our Olympic trials, and I truly feel I’ve been doing just that. I know what I’ve done well, and I know what I still need to improve on. This weekend is another opportunity to improve.
Tomorrow I’m racing the 1500m to start off the weekend, and it looks like it’s going to be a rematch from last weekend - pair 8, inner, with Ivan Skobrev. For anyone who watched the race last weekend, he had a really strong last lap and got me right at the line by 0.04 seconds. That, in itself, gives me that extra little motivation to race well.
Like last weekend, I’ll be racing the 5k on Saturday and Team Pursuit on Sunday. I also found out, after the fact, that all of the A-group races were streamed live on the ISU website last weekend (http://www.isu.org/vsite/vnavsite/page/directory/0,10853,4844-199322-216545-nav-list,00.html. If that link doesn’t work then just go to www.isu.org, and click on the “live streaming” on the top right-hand side of the screen). So, if you’re up for watching a little speed skating this weekend, definitely check it out. You might have to be a little patient though, because the feed doesn’t come through unless it is DURING the races. It’s not like a tv channel with commercials and all. I think races start at 12:30pm each day and the men’s 1500’s will be starting at 2:50pm tomorrow. Enjoy!
