Last weekend when I was back in Saskatchewan for a family event and a friend’s wedding, I surprised my elementary school by showing up during their year-end awards assembly. Some of you may remember that I partnered with École Wilfrid Walker during the Olympic year through the Adopt an Athlete Program, and at the end of the year the school created the Makowsky Award to commemorate the partnership.
Every year, a gold medal is presented to a student from each grade (from grade 3 onward) who demonstrates selflessness, compassion, personal best and who adheres to the school system’s Shared Values – I Respect, I am Responsible, I Want to Know, and I Belong. The grade 8 recipient is also awarded $100 as part of the award.
Aside from their fame at school, it wouldn’t be right if they weren’t showcased on my site as well. They are great role models for their fellow classmates and are sure to do great things in the future. Below are the names, and a picture, of this year’s 6 recipients of the Makowsky Award:
Félicitations à tous les récipients du prix Makowsky! Bonnes vacances tout le monde!
