Olympic Oval Finale Calgary, 18 - 22 March 2009
At the last competition of the season, the Olympic Oval Finale in Calgary, Lucas competed in the 1500m and the 5000m. In the 1500m he finished 3rd. He took the silver medal in the 5000m.

At the Olympic Oval Finale in Calgary, Lucas competed in the 1500m today. He was paired with his brother Mykola and raced to a time of 1:45.80, finishing 3rd, where Mykola needed 1:47.95, good for a 7th place. Winner of today's 1500m was Denny Morrison (1:42.84). Morrison was also racing his brother, Jay, who finished 6th in 1:47.84.

On the 4th day of the Olympic Oval Finale, there was another competition for Lucas to compete in. Today he skated the 5000m, in which he finished 2nd in a time of 6:31.55, beating his pair Pim Cazemier from The Netherlands. Jan Blokhuijsen won the 5000m (6:25.02).
