After debuting with a 13th place at last year’s World All-round Championships in Berlin, Lucas Makowsky finished 17th overall at this weekend’s World All-rounds in Hamar. He raced the 500m, 1500m and 5000m.
It was not a very good first day for Lucas at the World All-round Championships. He had two serious slips in the last corner of his 500m and took a fall in his 5000m, and consequently will not be skating the 10k tomorrow. In the first distance of the day, the 500m, he was paired with Tobias Schneider and finished in 37.34, good for a 19th place. Fellow Canadian Denny Morrison took the gold after clocking 35.55.

After his fall in the 5000m yesterday, it was already clear that Lucas’ overall classification would not allow him to race the 10k on the second day of the World All-round Championships, and as a result he only skated the 1500m today. In this distance he was paired with Pascal Briand and managed a decent 9th place (1:47.28). Håvard Bøkko finished first in 1:44.83, Sven Kramer took the gold in the 10k and in the overall classifications. Lucas finished 17th overall.
