This weekend the World Cup took place in Erfurt. Lucas Makowsky competed in the 1500m, 5000m and the Team Pursuit.
On the first day of the World Cup in Erfurt, Lucas was the only Canadian competing in the A division of the 5000m. He raced to time of 6:29.24, convincingly beating his pair Moritz Geisreiter, which was good for a 7th place. Sven Kramer finished first in 6:16.02.

In today’s 1500m at the World Cup in Erfurt, Lucas raced to a solid 8th place after skating a 1:47.75. He was paired with Teruhiro Sugimori, whom he beat. The distance was won by fellow Canadian Denny Morrison in a track record time of 1:45.32.

Together with brothers Jay and Denny Morrison, Lucas claimed another gold medal in the Team Pursuit today (after the gold medal in Berlin at the start of the season) at the World Cup in Erfurt. The Canadian team raced against the United States in the last pair of the day and finished in a time of 3:46.03, giving the Canadians the overall lead (310 points).
